About Me

 Autobiography

NB: My short CV is attached at the end of the text

Agel Hamed was born on March 14, 2001. I am a college student at Jambi University. I enjoy studying English and doing Sport and Arabic Calligraphy as my hobbies. As a professional person, I have to able to manage my time so that I can do my studies as well as enjoying my hobbies. For me, a hobby is not just a hobby, it is a gift from God that must be maintained by continuing to study it like formal education and I am sure that we can excel in academics and hobbies at the same time.

In 2017, I won the first place in the first sub-district level calligraphy competition. For me, it was not easy to get this position because at that time I had only learned calligraphy for about 1 year and it was my first competition. Moreover, at that time I was 16 years old while the competitors were around 20 years old. But who would have thought, I was able to come out as the first winner as well as the youngest participant there.

In the same year after that, I participated in the student competition in Jambi City to represent my school, As'ad. However, this time the wind was blowing in the opposite direction. I failed to come out victorious and came home empty-handed. It didn't take long for me to be sad, I then studied harder for the next competition in the same year at a higher level, the Jambi Provincial Consulate Competition. As the saying goes, "Man Jadda Wa Jada", that day I won third place.

In 2019, I tried something new, namely following the 2019 Genre Ambassador selection and winning as the finalist position. A pretty good achievement considering that year I was very busy doing many things such as preparing for the national exam, madrasah exams, campus entrance examinations, and others.

In the next year, 2020, I am trying new things again, namely participating in youth exchange programs between countries and also getting a position as a finalist. for me, trying new things is challenging and fun. It's challenging because it forces me to change even better, and it's fun to be able to hang out with other great participants. Experience is the best teacher for me.

Family and Education

Born and raised in Seberang Kota Jambi, I spent a lot of time there. I am the last child of two siblings. My father, Ali Sodikun is a teacher at Islamic Senior High School and my mother is a teacher in Islamic Ordinary School and both of them are located in Seberang Kota Jambi. While my older brother, Zidni Maruf is a Master Degree Student in Ahmad Dahlan University after graduating from Jambi University for his undergraduate degree.

Since a child, I am known as a cheerful person, funny, and a bit naughty to everyone. I have a short stubby body, with short black hair, slanted eyes, and a slightly pointed nose. Even I was fat, I was very active and rarely stopped playing the whole day.

At 6 years old, I started to study at SDN 167 in the morning, and Islamic Ordinary School in the afternoon and continued by studying Al-Quran at Mosque in the night. This routine I conducted till I was 12 years old, which means I graduated from my school and continue to the next level. During school, it was not uncommon for me to make achievements both in groups and individuals such as LKBB, Scouting, Olympics, and so on. I didn't want to enter the competition, because I was a very shy kid. I just had to. But who would have thought, from that compulsion I was able to gain a lot of experience and achievements.

At 12 years old, I continued my study at Islamic Junior High School As’ad. As usual, I always try to find out new things in his life. I joined so many communities there but stayed in several of them which are Paskibra and Malay Arabic Art. But for me, they were not the new thing. What I learned in Paskibra was had similar to Scout that I joined before while Malay Arabic Art was learned by me when I studied in Madrasah. The new thing that I got there was OSIS, and I was the chairman who was chosen without my knowledge. I was sick for a lot longer about 2 weeks. Then when I came back there, my friends told me that I had a big responsibility and from then on, I did a lot of things that I should.

After undergoing a tough task, graduation time came when I was 15 years old. I planned to continue my study in Pondok Pesantren Dalwa in Java, but my parents didn’t allow me to make it happen and suggested me to continued my study at the same roof, As’ad and from then on, I studied there. I was so happy there because I can do a lot of activities that I love and I hate at the same time. Let’s guest, I became the Student Council President for the second time in my life and the same as before, I didn’t candidate myself, but I was chosen by teachers to run as a candidate. I refused, but the teacher encouraged me to keep going then I was democratically elected to be the student council president, which I didn't want to be. From then on, my life was changed. I became famous because I had to arrive early and stand in front of all the students to read the morning prayer, every day as a routine. Besides, I also served as a representative in the Malay arts group and secretary at Paskibra. it makes me a little tired. But it was okay, it gave me a new great experience. The experience of how to become a leader and manage time. That was e great experience for me and as I said above, the experience is the best teacher is my life.
